Service Details

Screened volunteer visitors are matched with clients, and visit them in their homes or at locations in the community. Weekly visits may be two to three hours long, and are scheduled at a mutually convenient time during the day, evenings, or weekends.

  • This service is offered in Kitchener and Waterloo.
  • If you live in Cambridge or North Dumfries, we can connect you to The City of Cambridge’s friendly visiting program.

I am so excited when Thursday comes. I’m jumping for joy. We are much like brothers.

FAQ

  • Are you doing this program in person?

Our matches are currently beginning their relationship over the telephone. If the volunteer and the person both agree to meet in person, they may do so.

  • How often can we meet?

This really depends on the individuals in the match. Most of our matches talk weekly, from anywhere from half an hour to an hour. You can do what works with your schedule.

  • Can my friendly visitor bring me to the bank, or pick up groceries for me?

Our volunteers are strictly visitors and are not to drive you to appointments or the grocery store.  If you need help with these types of tasks, call the main office and we can help you get set up on services.
