All the meals are so very nice. They’re so well prepared. It makes me feel like I want to eat them. The soups are out of this world, I can’t expect more. And the desserts are gorgeous.

FAQ

  • What time are meals delivered, and if I’m not home what will happen to the meal?

Our meals are delivered at any time between 11am-1pm Monday to Friday. If you are not home to receive the meal the volunteer will bring the meal back to the office, at which time we will start phoning your emergency contacts to make them aware of your absence and have them check in on you. Meals must always be left in a refrigerated environment, so if requested we can put the meal in your fridge if the door is unlocked or we can deliver the meal to a next door neighbour but we cannot leave food outside.

  • How do I choose which meal I will receive?

We have 2 meal options, frozen meals that must be cooked or hot meals that are ready to eat. For the frozen meals we have a pamphlet listing the options that are available (linked above), simply call the office with your choices and we can have those delivered on a day that suits your schedule. For the hot meals, we make one meal per day that we send to clients, according to a 4 week rotating menu. If you let us know about things you do not like to eat, for example if you don’t eat fish, we will make sure we send you something different on a day we are serving fish. You can also find our hot meal menu here online (linked above).

  • How do I pay for the meals?

You will be billed monthly. You can send in a cheque with one of our Meals on Wheels volunteers, set up for automatic withdrawal or call the finance department at 519-772-8787 ext 207 to pay with a credit card or e-transfer.
